Derek Cawley

Consultant Orthopaedic and Spinal Surgeon at the Mater Private Network

Derek is a spine surgeon. He has published widely in international surgical journals. Derek has been a board member with the Road Safety Authority, Irish Doctors for the Environment and is the clinical director of sustainability at Mater Private Hospital. He has chaired the PatientLine working group with Eurospine, the European Spine Society, now leading their environmental sustainability taskforce.

Previously, his specialist spinal surgery training has taken him to world renowned centres abroad including Institute de la Colonne Vertebrale, Bordeaux and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London, UK. He recently finished a PhD, plays piano and loves kite surfing.
